Our Olympic National Park tour from Seattle takes us to the enchanting and untouched Olympic Mountain Range. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, Olympic National Park is remarkable for its pristine condition and diverse ecology. Long protected from the resource extraction that cleared much of the west, the park is an outstanding glimpse into Washington’s natural past. Glacial peaks, wildflower meadows, old growth forests, and crystal-clear lakes make an Olympic National Park tour a rewarding and must-do day trip from Seattle.

“Around a three-hour ride by car from Seattle, [Olympic National Park] feels much farther, as if you have passed into an otherworldly realm.”

– Meghan O’Rourke, The New York Times

Come join one of our professional local guides as we visit Hurricane Ridge, the site of sweeping vistas and home to Olympic’s most exciting wildlife. We’ll learn how humans have interacted with nature at the Elwha River, site of the world’s largest-ever dam removal project. And we’ll witness stunning Lake Crescent, a long-time tourist hotspot. Along the way, our professional local guides will elevate the experience through stops at historic landmarks that help tell the story of this dynamic and enchanting landscape.

We want you to have the best experience possible, so we optimize every tour based on the season, weather conditions, and guest interest. Here’s an example of a typical itinerary at Olympic National Park:

7:00 AM: Pick-Up

Morning pick-up at your downtown Seattle hotel or vacation rental in our luxury Mercedes van. For guests staying outside the city center, pick-up is available at the Charter Hotel at 1610 2nd Ave.

8:00 AM: Scenic Bainbridge Island Ferry

Enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in our favorite views of the Seattle skyline. A ride on the Bainbridge ferry is a must-do tourist activity for its breathtaking views of Puget Sound, the Cascades, and the Olympic Peninsula.

9:00 AM: Native American Tribe and Historic Mill Town

We’ll start our day with an exploration of Washington’s past by visiting two important historical sites. Our first stop will be the grave of the famous Suquamish leader Chief Seattle to discuss the rich native culture in the region. Next, the quaint mill town of Port Gamble is a great place to learn about Washington’s first booming industry: logging. Although the mill has since closed, the town is a National Historic Landmark and one of the best preserved mill towns in the Western U.S.

11:30 AM: Hurricane Ridge

Enjoy sweeping views of Olympic National Park from world-famous Hurricane Ridge. This area contains the best vistas of the surrounding mountains, pristine alpine meadows, exciting wildlife-spotting opportunities, and well maintained nature trails. Here, a nature walk will introduce the ecology and geology of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

1:00 PM: Lunch

Your guide prepares a gourmet family-style lunch served with a selection of local beverages.

2:00 PM: Elwha River

In 2014, the Elwha River was the site of the largest-ever dam removal project in the world, removing two large dams built in the early 20th century. The story of the dams and river is a colorful one involving local Native American tribes, early Washington pioneers, the logging industry, and our region’s famous Pacific King Salmon.

3:00 PM: Lake Crescent

The second-deepest lake in Washington is set within the stunning evergreen foothills of the Olympics. The water’s low nitrogen content makes the lake crystal clear, radiating magnificent blue and turquoise colors. Time permitting, we’ll also take an optional 2-mile (3.2 km) guided nature walk through a beautiful old growth forest to Marymere Falls.

4:00 PM: Depart Olympic National Park

We ride back to Seattle in comfort, relishing the memories and photographs from a wonderful day!

6:30 PM: Optional Drop-Off on Bainbridge Island

Consider capping off your day in Winslow, Bainbridge Island’s beautiful and charming downtown. It’s an easy 10-minute walk to the ferry back to downtown Seattle (free for walk-on passengers).

7:30 PM: Arrive in Seattle

Drop-off at your Seattle hotel or vacation rental. Our exact arrival time is subject to traffic and road conditions.
