Our Whidbey Island tour from Seattle highlights the best of our state’s famous scenery and lifestyle. Washington’s largest island is packed full of local charm, friendly people, state history, and beautiful vistas. Among the most popular weekend destinations for Washington residents, Whidbey enjoys an idyllic setting and playful energy that make it a rewarding day trip from Seattle.

“Every country road on this glacially formed island off the coast of Seattle leads through astoundingly diverse but ever-enchanting topography: tunnels of towering redwoods, farmland dotted with barns and grazing horses, stunning vistas of sparkling bays.”

– Lindsay Moran, The New York Times

Join one of our professional local guides on a journey through the history and geology of this beautiful landscape. We’ll learn about the island’s local Native American history, the founding of one of Washington’s oldest communities at Coupeville, how Deception Pass earned its name by tricking Captain George Vancouver, and the importance of Whidbey’s fortifications in defending Seattle during World War II.

Washington’s island communities have always enchanted visitors, and our Whidbey Island and Deception Pass tour is the perfect way to see this local life at its fullest.

We want you to have the best experience possible, so we optimize every tour based on the season, weather conditions, and guest interest. Here’s an example of a typical itinerary for the Whidbey Island and Deception Pass Tour:

8:00 AM: Pick-Up

Morning pick-up at your downtown Seattle hotel or vacation rental in our luxury Mercedes van. For guests staying outside the city center, pick-up is available at the Charter Hotel at 1610 2nd Ave.

10:00 AM: Deception Pass

We’ll start our day at the island’s most stunning natural attraction and its only bridge to the mainland: Deception Pass. Strong tidal currents shape the dramatic landscape to this day. The beautiful vistas and beaches demonstrate why this is the most visited park in all of Washington State.

12:00 PM: Coupeville

Coupeville is among the oldest communities in Washington and one of the centerpieces of Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve. The site was chosen for its abundant farmland and promising sea access by Captain Thomas Coupe, who homesteaded the area in 1852. Today, it’s a cute town packed with charm, shops, and history.

12:30 PM: Lunch in Coupeville

Enjoy a gourmet lunch at our favorite restaurant overlooking beautiful Penn Cove, included in the price of your tour.

1:30 PM: Ebey's Landing

After lunch, we’ll head to the windswept cliffs of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve. Established in 1978, Ebey’s Landing was the first such historical reserve in the country and is an excellent location to discuss the colorful history of European and American settlement of Puget Sound.

2:30 PM: Fort Casey

Enjoy gorgeous coastal and tidal views as we wind our way to Fort Casey State Park. This former military installation was built during World War II as the third leg in a triangular fortification system protecting the entrance to Puget Sound. While here, take time to wander the abandoned bunkers, visit the beautiful historic lighthouse, and take in sweeping views of the Salish Sea.

4:00 PM: Langley

We’ll round out our tour of Whidbey by visiting beautiful downtown Langley. Soak up the creative and small-town island vibe as your guide shows you around town. If you like, stop into the boutique shops and small art galleries lining the main street. One local favorite is the Firehouse Glass Studio, where you can observe artists at work as they manipulate molten glass with the help of a thousand-degree furnace.

5:00 PM: Clinton Ferry to Mukilteo

Taking a ride on the Washington State Ferry system is a must-do activity when visiting our region. We’ll begin our return journey by hopping on the scenic Whidbey Island-Mukilteo route, where you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the sound and surrounding mountains. After that, we ride back to Seattle in comfort, relishing the memories and photographs from a wonderful day!

6:30 PM: Arrive in Seattle

Drop-off at your Seattle hotel or vacation rental. Our exact arrival time is subject to traffic and road conditions.
